ALA Announces Staff Promotions

This summer, ALA announced three staff promotions in the marketing and member program departments. Raelle Bell was promoted to vice president of marketing; Amy Wommack was promoted to director of communications; and Liz Ware was promoted to director of special projects. A full list of ALA’s professional staff and contact information can be found online here.

Vice President of Marketing Raelle Bell
Bell joined the ALA staff in 2014 and most recently served as director of marketing. As vice president of marketing, Bell is responsible for overseeing the association’s Advertising and PR Program, as well as all member marketing and communications efforts. Over the years, Bell has led various association projects, including website redesign, new member communication programs, and member benefit development. Prior to her work with ALA, Bell worked for U.S. Senator John Cornyn in constituent services. She graduated from Trinity University with a bachelor’s degree in communication. 

 

Director of Communications Amy Wommack
Wommack has worked with ALA since 2003, most recently serving as communications manager. She leads ALA’s consumer marketing programs, including working closely on and serving as a contributing editor for Lighting magazine, produced by the ALA Advertising and PR Program in partnership with DotDash Meredith. Prior to working with ALA, she was with Dr Pepper/Seven Up for 12 years, first as an editor, then as a manager of corporate communications. Wommack has bachelor’s degrees in journalism and psychology from Southern Methodist University.

 

Director of Special Projects Liz Ware
Ware joined ALA as conference and membership coordinator in 2005. Since then, she has used her creative problem-solving skills to assist in various projects, from conceptualizing ALA’s website and online store, to designing ALA’s offices and booth spaces during Lightovation. Ware works closely with ALA vendors to develop software solutions for the association, most recently leading the redesign of ALA’s database, set to launch in 2024. She has a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Dallas in literature, art, and performance.
