2023 Lighting Magazine Hits Newsstands, Showrooms

The latest issue of Lighting magazine is now available on newsstands and in ALA-member showrooms across North America. This is the 17th issue of the magazine, which is produced annually by the ALA Advertising and PR Program in partnership with Better Homes & Gardens.

This year’s issue covers everything from technology to trends, and includes details on the importance of shopping for lighting with a trained professional in a lighting showroom. The magazine also directs consumers to ALA’s showroom locator.

"Great lighting is a 360-degree experience in showrooms today, and consumers' interest in lighting that's fashionable and functional continues to rise," said Jill Waage, editorial director, premium publishing at DotDash Meredith. "Today's breadth of offerings allow consumers to play with overscale fixtures, find artful LED designs, mix finishes confidently, and appreciate natural materials. Lighting is not just the finishing touch to a room; lighting often inspires and helps define personal style for a home."

In conjunction with the release of the magazine, the ALA Advertising and PR Program continues to run digital advertising campaigns over Google and social media directing shoppers to the ALA-member showroom locator and the digital issue of Lighting magazine.

For the first time ever, the magazine cover features a kitchen. Inside the issue, there is a special section on the important role lighting plays in the style and function of kitchens.

“This is the most ambitious cover set we’ve constructed with the DotDash Meredith team,” explained Tim Stumm, creative director at Z-Lite and chair of the ALA Advertising and PR Committee. “We are seeing an increase in high-end finishes in kitchens, from ranges to backsplashes. We chose to feature an oversized pair of crystal-adorned fixtures to open the space and demonstrate the role lighting plays in highlighting the other design elements in a kitchen.”

All images and products featured in the magazine come directly from ALA manufacturer members who support the Advertising and PR Program. This June, during Lightovation, ALA and the Better Homes & Gardens team will be on site interviewing Lighting magazine’s premium advertisers for a series of videos on lighting tips and trends, which will be released this summer.

Lighting magazine is truly a showpiece for the industry and the incredible products and services ALA members provide,” said Raelle Bell, ALA director of marketing. “We encourage members to use the magazine as a sales tool in their showrooms to inspire their customers. The digital issue is also available to ALA Advertising and PR Program supporters to utilize as a lead capture tool on their websites and social media pages."
