ALA Women in Lighting Committee Announces The Tory Burch Foundation as 2024 Philanthropic Beneficiary

The ALA Women in Lighting (WIL) Committee is focusing its 2024 charitable fundraising efforts on the Tory Burch Foundation, which works to empower women entrepreneurs by providing access to capital, education, and community.

“I am proud of the work that our committee leaders are doing to advance other women in the industry, and supporting the Tory Burch Foundation is a fantastic way to carry out our mission,” said Amy McGuire, of Hubbardton Forge, who serves as the lead for the WIL philanthropy subcommittee. “We are committed to fostering opportunities among the many brilliant women working in the lighting business.”

An initiative launched by ALA in 2018, the WIL Committee seeks to advance industry professionals through mentorship, education, and networking opportunities. Each year, the committee selects a charitable organization that aligns with the committee’s values and sets a fundraising goal for donations, selling uniquely designed and crafted WIL lapel pins to raise money. Last year’s WIL Committee beneficiary was the well-known national charity Dress for Success.

Hubbardton Forge sponsored the creation of the 2024 lapel pins, which are available for $20 each. Pin sales kicked off at the WIL reception, sponsored by Artcraft, at the Dallas Lightovation show June 19. The reception was highlighted by the presentation of the 2024 Women in Lighting Leadership Award to Hubbardton Forge CEO Maria Mullen.

Initial pin sales resulted in $1,241 of the $4,000 end-of-year goal. In-person sales will resume at the ALA Conference in Palm Beach, Fla., Sept. 22-24. Conference attendees will be encouraged to purchase and wear their pins throughout the three-day event to show their support for the Tory Burch Foundation and all the charitable work of the WIL Committee.
