ALA Releases 2018 Action Agenda

Following a planning meeting with the ALA Executive Committee in November 2017, ALA finalized its 2018 Action Agenda. The Action Agenda is intended to chart a path forward for the association’s leadership, staff and members.

This year, the association will drive its programming to take advantage for the growing opportunities that LED technology and the connected world provide. The association approaches the new year with a variety of key focuses, including:

  • Staying ahead of the LED innovation curve, while positioning showrooms to us their knowledge and expertise in this area to attract consumers and professionals
  • Working to better understand rapidly emerging competitive market dynamics and challenges in terms of online access to lighting products and services, and the traditional versus innovative value proposition that local lighting showrooms must work to deliver to their customers
  • Focusing on identifying collective resources to challenge the status quo and define breakthrough innovation
  • Recognizing the emerging significance of smart/connected home devices across the residential market segment, and working to drive the lighting showroom to embrace the opportunities provided by these technologies
  • Expanding the awareness beyond traditional lighting to empower showrooms to deliver value to their customers

Continuing to attract young professionals to support the evolving lighting industry and to allow innovative thinking and ideas to shape priorities for our current and future plans ALA members are encouraged to review the ALA Action Agenda for more information about the association’s goals and plans for 2018.
