ALA Political Action Committee Sees Unprecedented Growth

The ALA Political Action Committee (ALA-PAC) recently released a progress report, which showed record growth year over year for the past four years. The ALA-PAC has exceeded annual goals in both contributors and contribution amounts. So far in 2017, 170 ALA members have contributed to the ALA-PAC, which is 13.39 percent over goal. Total annual contributions amount to $56,193, which is 24.9 percent over the year’s goal.

On average, member contributors have increased 37 percent per year, and contribution amounts have risen by 55 percent per year.

The ALA-PAC provides the association a voice in Washington, D.C. The continuous increase over the years has allowed the association to gain a much stronger, more influential voice among key discussions affecting the industry. Individual financial support of the PAC allows the association to contribute to members of Congress, both Democrats and Republicans, who are responsive to issues challenging the lighting industry. The growth in ALA-PAC contributions has allowed ALA to increase its number of political champions over the years, which gives the association a voice and opens doors, whether it is during legislative proceedings or meetings with government agencies.
