Embracing Smart Home Technology for Business Success

Conference Panel will Challenge Attendees to Prepare for the Connected World

In 2017, 130 million smart home products are expected to be sold, an increase of 65 percent over 2016. By 2020, it is projected 20 billion devices will be connected. The numbers do not lie, we are living in a connected world.

At the ALA Annual Conference in Vancouver, on Monday, Sept. 11, attendees will hear from a panel of experts on how lighting and associated products fit into the emerging connected home world. During this presentation, panelists will challenge the audience to think differently and prepare for the connected home revolution.

Connected and smart home technologies are not just emerging in the world around us, these products are already integrated into most of our daily lives. Through information on the technical background, visions into the future, and a look back at history, this panel will awaken audiences to the paradigm shift occurring today.

The panel will consist of such experts as Michael Smith, vice president of sales for Lutron Electronics; David Kaiserman, president of Lennar Homes; and Gerard Lynch, founder of System 7 Solutions, which recently merged with New England-based lighting showroom, Wolfers, Inc. Additional connected home specialists from top companies, such as Nest, are also expected to attend.

Through discussions about their background and experiences in the industry, these experts will discuss the role of lighting in this new, connected world, as well as the opportunities being created in a rapidly changing marketplace. They will explain to attendees why companies must recognize this shift and change their business models to take advantage of the incredible opportunities for growth provided by these technological advancements.

With recent announcements, such as Lennar’s plans to standardize automation on 30,000 homes with a technology package, it is clear the home building industry is rapidly moving in the direction of connected products across the board. This creates ample opportunities for lighting showrooms to expand their sales. From partnerships with builders to increased sales in quality lighting and control products, the possibilities for a well-prepared showroom are endless.

The conference panelists hope to generate one of ALA’s most forward thinking and thought-provoking presentation’s to date, which will encourages attendees to take the next step forward and join the connected home revolution.
