Canada Set to Begin Regulatory Activity on GSLs

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has initiated the process to review and possibly amend standards for general service lamps and general service fluorescent lamps. This action is called for as part of the Forward Regulatory Plan 2022-2024, Canada’s effort to amend energy efficiency regulations. Under the plan, NRCan received comments during product-specific webinars hosted June 27 and June 30, in advance of Amendments 18 and 19 being pre-published in the Canada Gazette.

NRCan will publish technical bulletins in mid-July after the webinars. Until then, ALA members can review the regulations website for up-to-date information on energy efficiency standards in Canada.

Opportunity to Participate in CEC Survey

The California Energy Commission (CEC) is seeking feedback from users of its appliance certification database, Modernized Appliance Efficiency Database System (MAEDbS). Specifically, CEC is attempting to enhance the user experience for those accessing archived product data. ALA encourages members who regularly interact with MAEDbS to participate in the brief six-question survey. Participate here.

Help Set ALA’s Public Policy

ALA’s Government Engagement Committee is launching a membership campaign to bolster the committee’s roster. Individuals directly involved in advocacy, decision-making, or policy are encouraged to join the committee.
