ALA Seeks to End Bulb-in-the-Box in CA

Over ten years ago, the California Energy Commission (CEC) implemented a new requirement that all portable luminaires be packaged with a qualifying lamp. In the years since, California has advanced lamp efficiency requirements, creating a retail environment were only high-efficacy lamps are available to consumers, thus making the lamp requirement for portable luminaires obsolete. To that end, ALA sent a letter to CEC asking for a review of the current requirement and ultimately the elimination of the lamp requirement. ALA looks forward to engaging with the CEC on this matter.
