Hinkley Lighting Acquires Regency Ceiling Fans

Regency Ceiling Fans acquisition expands Hinkley Lighting’s decorative products to the indoor-outdoor fan market

ALA member, Hinkley Lighting Inc., a leading designer and distributor of decorative lighting, announced today its acquisition of Regency Ceiling Fans and related assets from parent company, Tacony Corporation. The announcement was made by Jess Wiedemer, president of Hinkley Lighting, at the company’s Global Headquarters in Avon Lake, Ohio. 

Tacony Corporation is based in St. Louis, Missouri and operates a portfolio of businesses, with a focus on floor care products and sewing products. For Tacony, the acquisition allows the company to focus on its core business markets while providing a suitable home for Regency Ceiling Fans.    

“We had been looking for a strategic partner with the necessary resources and expertise to help take Regency to the next level,” says Kristi Tacony Humes, CEO of Tacony Corporation. “We believe Hinkley Lighting provides Regency with a unique opportunity for growth because of its applicable experience in lighting and its reputation for trend-setting, high-quality, fashionable designs.”

Hinkley is a well-recognized and respected brand in the lighting industry used by homeowners, designers, contractors and light commercial specifiers. Hinkley’s brand portfolio consists of Hinkley Lighting and Fredrick Ramond. Regency Ceiling Fans will join Hinkley Lighting at its Global Headquarters in Avon Lake, Ohio. 

“Regency’s existing product lines, paired with the design-forward expertise of Hinkley Lighting, will strengthen the position of Hinkley in the marketplace,” says Eric Wiedemer, vice president of Hinkley Lighting. “By widening our indoor and outdoor product offering through the fan category, we create a more connected and cohesive brand experience for our showrooms and the consumer.”

As for changes at Hinkley, there will be few. Hinkley brands will continue to operate as is with management staying at the Global Headquarters. Distribution channels will not change and facilities will remain in place.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
