ALA, DMC Partner to Host Seminars During Lightovation
During January Lightovation, ALA and the Dallas Market Center (DMC) will partner to provide a series of seminars on social media and business success. Additionally, Peter Romaniello, IALD, will present three CLC-credit seminars on recessed fixtures, linear light sources and lighting control systems, at the cost of $44 per participant. This session will build on the strategies presented in Leslie’s Tuesday keynote, and will also provide valuable, actionable tips for those who were unable to attend.

She will also cover the limitations of this mobile-only format to ensure that time spent on Instagram feeds is proportionate with what it can accomplish. Analyzing and Comparing Recessed Fixture Selections – What to Look For on a Spec Sheet

In this seminar, attendees will learn how to work with a customer layout for recessed lighting and how to research, compare and analyze a variety of fixtures that will work best for customers’ needs. Peter will explain how to use different types of fixtures, as well as how to read and understand the basics and technical information on spec sheets.
Specifying Linear Light Sources What to Look For & What to Avoid

Linear light sources are second only to recessed lights in terms of frequency of use in residences and things that can become problematic. In this seminar, Peter will explain how to consider remote drivers, integral drivers, ELV, MLV, 0-10, extrusions, lenses, color consistency and size. Attendees will discuss what to look for in selecting a fixtures solution for common needs, like undercabinet, cove and cabinet accent lights, and will learn how to incorporate LED strips into just about any piece of cabinetry or millwork while avoiding issues for both the installer and the customer.

Taking the Fear Out of Lighting Control Systems

In this seminar, attendees will learn why lighting controls and system integration are here to stay, and are only becoming more popular. Peter will discuss the systems designed by AV Integration companies and identify smaller systems for projects that might not have the budget or need for an AV Integration Specialist. Attendees will learn how showrooms can address customers’ growing interest in lighting controls, how to design a lighting control system, how to document the system design, who is responsible for programming, and what the options are.
