ALA, DMC Partner to Host Seminars During Lightovation

During January Lightovation, ALA and the Dallas Market Center (DMC) will partner to provide a series of seminars on social media and business success. Additionally, Peter Romaniello, IALD, will present three CLC-credit seminars on recessed fixtures, linear light sources and lighting control systems, at the cost of $44 per participant. Tuesday, Jan. 15
Keynote Presentation: Propel Your Business Forward in 2019 Using Digital Marketing and Social Media Tools
Speaker: Leslie Carothers
Time: 3-4 p.m.
This seminar will highlight proven strategies to maximize online marketing and social media efforts for business growth. Attendees will learn how to develop a strategic plan and allocate marketing budgets appropriately for their goals, as well as the importance of data for measuring results and refining approaches.

Wednesday, Jan. 16
Digital Marketing Workshop – Google Maps
Speaker: Leslie Carothers
Time: 9-10 a.m.
This seminar is the first of a three-part, platform-specific series covering digital tools in depth to drive business success in 2019. In this seminar, attendees will learn how to increase online visibility and mobile search results using Google Maps. Attendees are encouraged to bring their mobile devices or laptop to effectively follow along and maximize the benefit of Leslie’s practical, how-to advice. This session will build on the strategies presented in Leslie’s Tuesday keynote, and will also provide valuable, actionable tips for those who were unable to attend.

Social Media Workshop: Facebook
Speaker: Leslie Carothers
Time: 3 -4 p.m.
As the second session in Leslie’s three-part series, this hands-on seminar will cover how to execute a results-driven Facebook campaign. Attendees will learn how to set up a pixel to make the most of their investment, and why consistency is critical to increasing sales and traffic. The overall strategies covered in Tuesday’s keynote will provide helpful context for these practical tips, and attendees will still benefit from this information on its own.

Social Media Workshop: Instagram
Speaker: Leslie Carothers
Time: 9 -10 a.m.
This is the final of Leslie’s three-part series highlighting specific social media platforms. In this session, Leslie will take an in-depth look at Instagram. Attendees will find out how to turn their Instagram presence into a revenue generator for their businesses and how to achieve brand awareness goals. She will also cover the limitations of this mobile-only format to ensure that time spent on Instagram feeds is proportionate with what it can accomplish. Attendees are encouraged to follow along on their own devices to gain maximum benefit from these helpful how-tos.

Analyzing and Comparing Recessed Fixture Selections – What to Look For on a Spec Sheet
Speaker: Peter Romaniello, IALD
Time: 12 -1:30 p.m.
In this seminar, attendees will learn how to work with a customer layout for recessed lighting and how to research, compare and analyze a variety of fixtures that will work best for customers’ needs. Peter will explain how to use different types of fixtures, as well as how to read and understand the basics and technical information on spec sheets.

Specifying Linear Light Sources What to Look For & What to Avoid
Speaker: Peter Romaniello, IALD
Time: 4-5 p.m.
Linear light sources are second only to recessed lights in terms of frequency of use in residences and things that can become problematic. In this seminar, Peter will explain how to consider remote drivers, integral drivers, ELV, MLV, 0-10, extrusions, lenses, color consistency and size. Attendees will discuss what to look for in selecting a fixtures solution for common needs, like undercabinet, cove and cabinet accent lights, and will learn how to incorporate LED strips into just about any piece of cabinetry or millwork while avoiding issues for both the installer and the customer.

Taking the Fear Out of Lighting Control Systems
Speaker: Peter Romaniello, IALD
Time: 9 -10 a.m.
In this seminar, attendees will learn why lighting controls and system integration are here to stay, and are only becoming more popular. Peter will discuss the systems designed by AV Integration companies and identify smaller systems for projects that might not have the budget or need for an AV Integration Specialist. Attendees will learn how showrooms can address customers’ growing interest in lighting controls, how to design a lighting control system, how to document the system design, who is responsible for programming, and what the options are.
