ALA Hosts First-Ever Showroom Meet & Greet at Lightovation

ALA brought one of the most appreciated benefits of attending the annual ALA Conference – the networking opportunities – to Lightovation by hosting a networking event for lighting showrooms that was open to members and non-members alike. The cocktail party provided a casual atmosphere for meeting new people in the industry and sharing market observations.

Among the Lightovation attendees who stopped in were new lighting showroom owners Jeffrey and Becca Keefauver of Aggieland Lighting Center in College Station, Texas. The couple recently purchased Aggieland Lighting Center and are learning the ins and outs of the showroom business. They found going to the ALA Conference in Lake Tahoe to be invaluable to their business and are looking forward to this year’s conference at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida.

Other newcomers to Lightovation as well as the ALA Meet & Greet event were Gail Propson and Thomas Miernicki from Zastro (part of Oracle Netsuite ERP), a solutions provider for showrooms and manufacturers that had a booth in the shared Spectrum space on the fourth floor of Trade Mart. Among their clients are Pace Lighting in Savannah and home accents manufacturer Two’s Company, which has a permanent showroom in the Dallas Market Center. The Meet & Greet event was a great way for showroom owners to learn more about the system and make plans to stop by the Spectrum booth.

Ahead of his featured seminar presentation Designing for Modern Residential Lighting Controls Solutions during Lightovation, speaker C. Webster Marsh, CLCP, Owner, Penumbra Controls, stopped into the Meet & Greet event to chat informally with ALA showroom members. Among the topics that generated lively discussion involved ways to incorporate lighting controls as a selling tool when creating a customized lighting plan for customers.
