The Residential Lighting Training class will be held virtually.

The very popular four-day Residential Lighting Training Class is returning - virtually. With the virtual format, you can benefit from the experience of training with one of ALA’s most respected instructors, Joe Rey-Barreau, AIA, IES; study and learn from the Residential Lighting Training Manual; and take your exam at the end of the class, all from the comfort of your own home or office.

Class Details:

The four-day class will run with a combination of live Zoom calls and a webinar-based recorded library of courses. Only students registered for the class will have access to the training material.

All live sessions are recorded in case you are not able to make the times provided you can view at a later time.

Class Fee:

$600 per participant (includes four days of virtual training with an instructor and webinar-based training)

Training Manual: $399 (each student is required to have the Residential Lighting Training Manual, this includes the exam fee)

About the Instructor: 

Joseph (Joe) A. Rey-Barreau is an architect and lighting designer with over thirty years of experience as a design professional. He is also an Associate Professor with tenure in the College of Design at the University of Kentucky where he has won numerous teaching awards. Joe has worked on over 1,000 projects as either the principal lighting designer and/or architect. These have included residential projects, offices, government buildings, stores, industrial, warehouse, educational and health care facilities. Since 1995 he has served as an education consultant and instructor for the American Lighting Association and has developed hundreds of lighting education courses and online webinars for both the lighting industry and for allied professionals such as architects, engineers and interior designers He is one of the most recognized lighting experts in the United States and has been quoted and referenced widely in many publications. Joe also has presented over 500 continuing education programs over the past twenty years to groups such as the American Lighting Association (ALA), American Institute of Architects (AIA), Illuminating Engineering Society of North American (IESNA), American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), International Interior Design Association (IIDA), Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
