The connected lighting day seminars will be held in Trade Mart 4804, Light + Technology Center. For a list of seminars and registration information,  click here .

Make sure to stop by the ALA booth on the fourth floor of the Trade Mart during the event. This year, we will have a fun, interactive booth display you won't want to miss.

ALA Washington, D.C. Fly-in

Twenty ALA members and staff descended onto Washington, D.C. May 17-18 for the association's annual fly-in.

ALA met with 16 members of the U.S. House of Representatives and 8 members of the U.S. Senate, as well as with officials from the Marketplace Fairness Coalition, Americans for Affordable Products Coalition, Energy Star, and Appliance Standards Awareness Project.

In our meetings, ALA conveyed our support of Marketplace Fairness Act legislation; Tax Reform, without the inclusion of the Border Adjustment Tax (BAT) language; EPCA reform; and legislation to exempt LEDs from the External Power Supply rule.

Member companies can support ALA's efforts to combat the Border Adjustment Tax by joining the Americans for Affordable Products Coalition.

(From Left) Eric Wiedemer, Hinkley Lighting; Michael Estrin, Estrin Sales Agency;
Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH); Eric Jacobson, ALA; Terry McGowan, ALA; and Larry King, Capital Lighting; meet to discuss issues affecting the industry.

Showroom Performance & Profitability Report

ALA is collecting data from member showrooms to compile the Showroom Performance & Profitability Report. This is a free member service, which will allow ALA to develop a financial benchmarking report.

The report will cover 2016 data, and will emphasize actions members can take to improve showroom results and business success in clear, understandable steps. To participate, please complete the survey, which can be downloaded here. By completing the survey, showrooms members will receive:

  • Showroom Performance & Profitability Report - A financial operating profile of all participating members.
  • Profit Improvement Profile - A confidential report sent directly to you comparing your firm with similar participating firms. Many firms take this report to the bank to discuss loans and lines of credit.
  • Profit Dashboard - An online financial analysis and planning tool exclusively for participants.
ALA Lighting Magazine - Best Issue Yet

The 2017 Lighting magazine is receiving rave reviews by the ALA membership. The heavier cover stock, whiter pages and expanded magazine showcases the innovation and design of lighting, ceiling fan and control products. The magazine also focuses on driving consumers to ALA-member showrooms to utilize their knowledge, resources and expertise. I want to also give special thanks to the advertisers who make this magazine possible. You may view the digital edition of the magazine here . Shipments of Lighting magazine have been received by showroom members. If you have not received your shipment, or if you want to place an order, contact Amy Wommack.
