The 2020 ALA Engineering Committee Meeting was held virtually Oct. 20 and 21. 

Technology Discussion

The meeting covered the technological topics committee member believe will have the most impact on ALA members and the industry in the coming 12 to 24 months. The discussion highlighted the ways in which the committee sees these technologies being used, particularly in residential lighting applications. According to McGowan, this discussion could be of interest to all ALA members, regardless of their technical backgrounds. Topics of discussion included:

  • Lighting and the connected home
  • Light and human health
  • 3D printing of lighting products
  • Horticultural lighting for residential applications
  • UV germicidal lighting
