The United States Trade Representative (USTR) continues to process the exclusion requests submitted for List 3.

List 4b Tariffs

As we close out 2019, there is still much uncertainty about what will happen with List 4b. Currently slated to take effect this coming Sunday, Dec. 15, List 4b will add an additional 15-percent duty on covered goods coming from China. Ceiling fans and finished good LEDs are included on List 4b.

Tariff Update

Late last week, the USTR issued a statement that exclusion requests for products on List 4A will be accepted, beginning Oct. 31. Requests must be submitted using USTR’s Exclusions Process Portal.

List 3 Tariff Update

Late on Friday, the United States Trade Representative (USTR) put out a release stating that the increase for the List 3 tariffs from 10 percent to 25 percent, scheduled to take place on June 1, has been delayed until June 15. USTR had provided a “grace period” for shipments that were made prior to the May 10 tariff increase but wouldn’t arrive until June 1.

The Latest on Tariffs

The Trump administration is moving quickly to raise tariffs on products coming from China. This includes lighting, ceiling fan and control products. 

Trade Talks with China Resume

Over the next two days senior government officials from the U.S. and China will convene for trade talks in Washington, D.C. This second round of negotiations will test the resolve of the Trump administration, who outlined the structural changes China would need to make in order to address U.S. concerns over forced technology transfer and intellectual property theft three weeks ago at the previous round of lower level talks in Beijing.
