The ALA Public Policy program works with international, federal and state/provencial governmental agencies, environmental groups, as well as standard and code organizations that influence how lighting products are designed, manufactured and sold.

Signed: Phase One Trade Deal

Last week, President Donald Trump and China’s Vice-Premier Liu He formally signed the Phase One trade deal, easing the recent friction. The détente officially delayed the expected tariffs on ceiling fans and LEDs. No additional lighting-related tariff relief was included as part of the deal.

This deal is a step in the right direction, showing that the two sides can come together. However, ALA has joined with the Americans for Free Trade in encouraging both countries to begin negotiations on the Phase Two trade deal.
