Tariff Update: Changes Coming to List 4

Wednesday, August 28, 2019/Categories: Public Policy

On Friday, the USTR will publish President Trump’s latest directives regarding the List 4 tariffs in the Federal Register.

Friday’s publication clarifies that List 4 remains divided into two sub-groups: List 4A and List 4B. Both groups will now be at a 15-percent tariff rate, instead of the previously imposed 10-percent tariff rate. Ceiling fans and LEDs are included in List 4B.

The separate effective dates are upheld for both groups. List 4A takes effect on Sept. 1, and List 4B takes effect on Dec. 15. The tariffs are effective with respect to goods entered for consumption, or withdrawn from a warehouse for consumption.

Read the pre-publication notice here.

Additional action by the USTR is expected concerning the first $250 billion worth of goods coming from China (Lists 1, 2 and 3).
